Last week we flew off to Utah for a few days to visit Ryan's family and friends. This was Chloe's first plane ride. We were a little nervous about how she would do on the plane, especially since she is on the go right now, but alas, she surprised us!!!!! She was GREAT! She played with toys, emptied the seat pockets, drank juice, ate snacks, and slept for 30 minutes!
Wednesday night Ryan's mom cooked us dinner and then we went to get ice cream with his grandparents! Now let's just go on record and say I'm not a huge ice cream eater and I can usually take it or leave it. Well, this time I TOOK it and went back for a 2nd time a few days later! The ice cream shop is called Sub Zero. Everything starts out as liquid, you pick what type of ice cream you want (premium, low fat, rice/soy, custard, or frozen yogurt), then you pick what flavor, what mix-ins, and they mix into cream using liquid nitrogen! It was absolutely some of THE BEST ice cream I have ever had!!! Definitely worth trying if you're ever in Utah.
Thursday Ryan went fly fishing with his dad and the rest of us shopped around, took naps, and played with Chloe! Once the guys returned home we went out for a delicious dinner at Joy Luck...one of Ryan's favorite restaurants back home!
Friday we headed up to Park City and shopped at the outlet mall! Ryan's mom bought Chloe some super cute Winter clothes and Ryan got a new case for his glasses/sunglasses (real exciting! Ha!). We then headed to the charming downtown area and ate lunch at a cute Italian restaurant called Cisero's. Friday night Ryan's friend Jana had put together a cookout with a bunch of their old friends from HS and it was a lot of fun!!!!! Her mom grilled for everyone and Jana of course made her famous peanut butter bars!!!! She also introduced us to her new favorite drink..a Cremosa. You make it using Seltzer water, cream, and different flavored drink syrups. It was DELICIOUS! It was great for Ryan to hook back up with some of his old friends! We ended the night with a jam session with James, Scott, and Ryan all playing the guitars!! It was a wonderful night!!
Saturday we met up with our good friends, Jayson & Amber Boyd and their little girl Hadlyn for lunch! It was so fun to see them again and just chat! You know you have good friends when you can just pick up where you left off the last time you saw them! We love you guys! Saturday night we went to a nice family dinner at Flemings Prime Steakhouse!! Now that is a GOOD restaurant!
Sunday we went to church with Ryan's family and of course Chloe was the center of attention as his mom introduced all of her friends to Chloe! Sunday evening we went to Ryan's grandparents' house for dinner! His grandmother is in her late 80s and still puts on a great meal!! Ever since Ryan and I got engaged I've heard about this infamous Simply Elegant Cake and have never had the opportunity to try it until now! Let me just tell you it was delicious! The first layer is a homemade chocolate cake, a layer of meringue, a layer of chocolate cream, chocolate cake, meringue, chocolate cake, and then the whole thing is covered in the chocolate cream icing and chocolate shavings on top!!! (Not sure if I got the layers correct, but you get the idea!) It was very yummy!!!!
Monday morning we made a quick stop at Ryan's mom's office so her coworkers could meet Chloe! One of his mom's bosses is David Beck, who is also the General Young Men's President of the church! Chloe went right to him and sat in his lap and played with sticky notes! It was so cute! Then we headed off to the airport. Chloe was so good on the plane ride home, she emptied the seat pockets again, drank her bottle, spilled a cup of Diet Dr Pepper, and slept an hour!
All in all it was a good trip!!!!! It does feel good to be home now and sleep in my own bed!
