It's Christmas Time

We have been so busy ever since Thanksgiving was over and the pace is not slowing down yet. The first weekend of December we headed to the Dallas Symphony Orchestra with my parents for the Christmas Pops concert! Man, was that the best performance EVER! We sat in the choral seats right behind the orchestra and could see all of the various instruments and it was very neat! Saturday was filled with some more shopping at North Park and I had a Primary class Christmas party that night for my little ones! We ate pizza, bread sticks, cookies, and watched The Polar Express! It was great fun for everyone and all the kids just laid on the ground on pillows all nestled up under some blankets, it was very cute!
This weekend, Friday night was our ward party and we volunteered to make potatoes and a dessert. We wanted to do something besides the traditional potato casserole that most people make and we made Italian Roasted Potatoes, SO YUMMY!!! The dessert was even better! We were in Williams Sonoma last weekend and sampled their Peppermint Bark and that was absolutely delicious! Well...I decided I must find that recipe and make some and so we did! It was a great hit! When Ryan and I finally got up to the front of the line to eat, our potatoes were gone, and there were only 3 piece of the Peppermint Bark left too.
Saturday evening was Ryan's company Christmas party at The Gaylord Texan Resort. This is an absolutely miraculous place during Christmas time and definitely a sight to see. We arrived about 12:30p.m. so we could eat lunch at The Riverwalk Cafe, it was the nicest and best buffet we have been to and of course it ought to be if you are paying $21 a person. We then walked around for awhile looking at the beautiful decor, walking into gift shops, and then it was time to register for the Christmas party. We went upstairs to the area where the party would be held and registered and got our tags and tickets. After that we went back to our room to shower and get ready for an evening of fun! We arrived at the party about 5:30 and had appetizers and finally the doors opened at 6:30, about 45 minutes late, but that was ok. We got seated and the meal immediately started. First they served butternut squash soup, then field green salad, and the main course was lobster tail, steak, winter vegtables, mashed potatoes, and rolls. For dessert they had a plated trio of minature desserts. The Vocal Majority was the entertainment for the night (they are a great men's chorus from the Dallas area). Once the Vocal Majority was finished with their performance it was time for a band to come on and dancing to begin. We left after listening to the band for a few minutes and walked around the resort some more, taking pictures! This was a great weekend for us and a wonderful little getaway! We were also celebrating our 2 year wedding anniversary which will be this Tuesday, December 16th!!!! Happy Anniversary Ryan, I love you!!!!!!!
