Destin Vacation

Since this was our first summer to have my brother home from his mission, my parents decided to take the whole family on a vacation to Destin, FL!!! They rented a big condo for us all to stay in that was RIGHT on the beach! That was one of my mom's stipulations when we were researching a place to stay. Can't blame her! On our way to Destin we stopped overnight in Vicksburg, MS to see the civil war battlegrounds and a few other things. We went and walked around in their downtown area, drove past all the waterfront murals, visited the Coca-Cola museum, and ate lunch at a cute local restaurant! Later on Saturday we headed on into Destin. We checked into our condo and then went straight down to the beach to walk around! Then we headed to a local grocery store to get food for the week. You can totally tell that Destin is a vacation spot by walking into the grocery store...beach chairs & umbrellas for sell everywhere, lots of people in swimsuits, and carts overflowing with food. On Sunday it kind of rained off and on and we waited for Jake & Hillary to arrive! We decided that each family would take one night to cook for everyone and then we would just play the rest of the meals by ear! Sunday night was our night and Ryan fixed meatballs and gniocchi! Hillary's night was Monday and she fixed yummy Chicken Spaghetti and Tuesday was mom and dad's night and they grilled hot dogs! Then the rest of the week I think we ended up going out! Ryan of course spoiled us and fixed big breakfasts most of the mornings! So nice to have a chef right in the family!!!!! We spent tons and tons of time at the beach, we went to our condo's pool a few times, went shopping, went to the boardwalk and walked around, Ryan snorkeled with the guys, and one day we went to the Naval Air Station Museum in Pensacola! Chloe enjoyed playing in the sand as long as it was not all over her hands. Early on in the week she got splashed in the face by a big wave and then the rest of the week she was pretty apprehensive about the water. All in all it was a GREAT week!!!!!! I can definitely see us going back!!! Thanks, mom & dad for a great trip!!!!!!!!
